ESTATE PLANNING, TRUSTS &. ADMINISTRATION
It is vitally important to protect and preserve the assets you’ve worked so very hard to accumulate and ensure that they pass unto the beneficiaries you designate, in the correct increments and at the appropriate time/age you intend. Without a thorough estate plan, taxes and other expenses can, clearly, disinherit your beneficiaries of assets you wish to pass to your loved ones. Proper Medicaid planning is also essential to ensure that your assets are not unnecessarily depleted for assisted living or nursing home care.
An evaluation of your assets and liabilities and income stream may also suggest that some form of Trust Agreement may be appropriate.
Further, without a professionally prepared living will/health care directive, your desires with respect to many issues may not be adhered to including: extraordinary medical care, anatomical gifts, etc.
Lastly, in the event you become disabled, a Power of Attorney should be considered naming a designated trusted individual or institution to responsibly deal with all your financial affairs.
None of us wish to consider these issues but they are all a part of responsible life planning. My office is available to discuss, plan for and properly document your concerns including the following:
